Studies On The Integration Of Reading And Writing In Senior One Students’ English Writing

As an important part of English textbooks, the texts have a remarkable effect on the senior high school students’ English learning and it is the premise of carrying on the effective teaching to discover its value and connotation. However, at present it turns out that teachers tend to lay emphasis on the use of words, phrases and sentences as well as grammar in textbooks and don’t attach importance to the demonstration effect of the text on students’ writing.This thesis attempted to explore whether we can use texts in the textbooks as a writing to stimulate the interest and enthusiasm for students’ English learning and improve student’s English learning efficiency and the ability to use language.Mainly based on English teaching theory, this thesis discussed a new writing teaching method and the function of reading and writing in writing teaching practice by means of questionnaire surveys, individual interviews and experimental study. After the twenty-week teaching experiment in experimental class and control class, the research comes to the following conclusions by comparing tests results before and after the experiment and analyzing questionnaires during the experiment session: 1)From the results of questionnaire of current situation of senior 1 students’ writing, the author finds that more than 80% of senior 1 students hold the opinion that English writing is of great importance,but they think the current writing teaching has little effect on improving their writing.Therefore they expect teachers to use flexible and various writing teaching methods to improve their writing. 2) From the test results of experiment, the author finds that before the experiment, both experimental class and control class have similar average scores of writing test while there is a significant difference after the experiment, which indicates that the students’ of experimental class made progress in their writing. 3) According to the analyses on the results of questionnaire surveys, individual interviews after experiment,over 80% of the students in experimental class are confident in writing. They think that the text can not only improve their writing but also help them use what they have learned in the text. As a whole, the integration of reading into writing can develop student’s writing skill, and enlarge their vocabulary, so that their writing scores can be improved. Student’s ability of self-learning is improved during the cooperation of correcting each other’s works.The author has made a preliminary exploration and analyses on the use of text as aresult of limited research experience. There’s still a lot for further research on the topic persuasive.
