Reading education and writing education comprise of two essential parts of high school Chinese teaching,and these two pars are complementary and inseparable.But in actual teaching activities,many problems are confronted reading education,such as students' limited interest,failure in in-depth reading of text and in implementation of autonomous reading.Besides,there are also many problems for writing education,such as students' dislike for writing,difficulty in finding a topic,and lack of systematicness in teachers' writing education.The fundamental reasons for these problems lie in our unclear understanding of the relation between reading education and writing education,failure in the awareness of integrating reading and writing,or inadequate effective strategy in introducing writing education to reading education.Therefore,this has made reading education and writing education two independent areas.Based on the above understanding,this paper reviews the historic source of"stimulating writing by means of reading".It is found that such teaching model has existed from ancient times and exerted a profound influence.In modern times,exploration guided by more scientific teaching concept has laid more solid foundation on our research.Stimulating writing by reading not only conforms to the Chinese language course that functions as a tool,but also meets its requirements on practice.At the same time,it has become an effective approach for improving the students' writing ability,that is,stimulating writing by reading,promoting writing by reading and integrating reading and writing.According to the shifting law,the theory of "learning by doing",constructivism and other theories and by integrating the grade IV reading skill and the concept of writing skill,a teaching model that is more systematic in "stimulating writing by reading and integrating reading and writing" has taken shape.Based on this,five functional writing concepts corresponding to the four selections(sample,sample writing,finalized passage and used passage)can be defined,including cumulative writing,imitative writing,study-oriented writing,commentary writing and exploratory writing.Moreover,these concepts can be used to instruct the practice on Chinese reading teaching and writing teaching in order to find out the approach in raising efficiency in a real sense.
