The Marathon is a kind of sports events which has broad mass base, popular participation and major social impact. It demonstrates the challenges of oneself, beyond the limitation, and never giving up the sports spirit. Now the City Marathon is not only an international fashion, but also to promote the rapid development of the city.The initial Suzhou Jinji lake Half Marathon was hosted in 2010, and has been successfully held six sessions till currently 2015. In 2013, the simple Suzhou Jinji Lake Half Marathon has upgraded to the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon. And it won the bronze race prize awarded by the Chinese Track and Field Association in 2014. The popularity and brand of the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon Race have been greatly improved; the effect of the event in economic, politic, culture and society has been showing continually; the influence of event is gradually promoting.Marathon is different from other inside campus track and field competition. It is organized and held with its own characteristics. And the event’s organization and market development is relatively more open and complex. How to carry out the scientific management and planning of the organization and market development of the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon Race, to ensure the quality of the event, to maximally improve the economic benefits of competition, to enhance the competition level in the organization, to expand the influence of the event and brand effect, is a realistic problem which Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon Race organizers should focus on.On the basis of the research of Suzhou Jinji Lake International Marathon and other well-known marathon events, using the method of literature review, interviews, on-the-spot investigation,comparative analysis, and logical analysis, finally this article found the insufficient among the operation of the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon with the present situation investigation and comprehensive analysis of the organization and market development of Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon, and draws the following conclusions: After six years’ operation, the logistics support of Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon has already got all-round promotion; the market development of this event has got good achievements; the operation of this event has got a mature concept, the scale of this event has been continually expanding, the level of competition has been constantly improving, and the brand image of the event has been shaped as Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon; the event promotes positive energy, and stimulates the love for marathon to the public. The public benefit effect of the Event is more outstanding, and the marathon has become a commonweal platform, reflecting the sense of social responsibility.Considering that publicizing the sports event, establishing the website, training the volunteers, developing the market are still far from perfect or sufficient, this article hopes to provide reference for the healthy development of the Suzhou Jinji Lake International Half Marathon and further promotion for the reform and development of sports events; hopes to contribute for the development of sports and cultural undertakings in Suzhou, to provide some basic theory for the development of sports undertakings in Suzhou and even Jiangsu province, and to provide some reference for the marathon holding by some domestic small and medium-sized cities.
