Mongolian senior students in Inner Mongolia learn English as their third language in school. From 2008, English has gained equal importance as Chinese in the National Entrance Exam. However the present situation of Mongolian senior English education is much less developed compared with Han’s. This paper investigated and analyzed the situation of school-based teaching materials in the junior-senior transitional teaching on tenth graders in Mongolian School, in order to improve the Mongolian senior students’ English learning interests and make sure that more Mongolian senior students can learn the language materials which are suitable for their cognition. The underlying assumption of the research is it is effective to use the school-based teaching materials in the junior-senior transitional English teaching on the tenth graders in Mongolian school and to cultivate students’interest. To prove this assumption, the thesis will try to answer the following two questions.1. Are school-based teaching materials of Hohhot Mongolian School effective for English transitional teaching on tenth graders’English learning? 2. Do the school-based teaching materials of Hohhot Mongolian School cultivate students’English learning interest?One term experiment was conducted in two intact classes. The two parallel classes were in the tenth grade in Hohhot Mongolian School. The experimental class is class one which consists of 44 students. Class two is the controlled class which consists of 40 students.Dada collection includes questionnaire survey, pre-test, post-test and classroom behavior observation. And qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data was used. The results of the data analysis indicated that subjects in the experimental class did better in the end. The transitional teaching of school-based teaching material in the experimental class gained the expected result. From the experiment, following results have been concluded:1. School-based teaching materials of Hohhot Mongolian School are effective for English transitional teaching on tenth graders’English learning.2. School-based teaching materials of Hohhot Mongolian School cultivate students’English learning interest.
