Research On College Student Affairs Management Models Under New Situations

College student affairs management is at present a significant part of college management. Currently, there is a trend of high education popularization and economic globalization, accompanied by the diversity of college students and the internationalization of evaluation system. However, most of the graduates today are short of competitiveness, and that’s partly because college management in China is now at an exploratory stage. Universities in China are facing a common challenge of cultivating more talents who can who can quickly adjust themselves to the ever-changing international situation and challenges. Reformation of college student affairs management models has become an overwhelming task in China’s contemporary education reform now.With the development of high education, student affairs management now has a perfect mode, richer experience and more scientific methods. In some developed countries and areas like the U.S., Japan, U.K., German and Chinese Hong Kong, the student affairs management is now normalized, specific and systematic. The idea of "people-oriented" and "whole-people education" as well as the efficiency of vertical management model is fully reflected in these countries and areas. Besides, they are creating sound environment in the dormitories, expending educational functions and professionalizing the management teams. All these have ensured the high quality of their work and provided us with good experience.With five research objects including the U.S., Japan, U.K., German and Chinese Hong Kong, this essay gives a detailed analysis of the origins, development and current situation of college student affairs management of colleges at home and abroad. Through the comparison and conclusion of their similarities and assets, it also gives us some pointers to our practice.This essay takes a review of the historical development track of the student affairs management. And a comparison of the current situation of colleges at home and abroad is made in terms of their working ideas, organizational structures, managing content and management teams. And on this basic, some inspirations are summarized. We need to rebuild the "people-oriented" management concept, gradually make the college student affairs management vertically and help the students establish a correct outlook on their beliefs. Meanwhile, it also requires us to set up a new mechanism for college students to participate in the management and establish professional personnel system to the management of college student affairs.
