Leave And Regression:the Profession Mobility Of Social Work In The Perspective Of The Push-Pull Theory

With the development of social work, the demand for social workers is increasing, but the loss of social workers and the problem of professional mobility are serious. The professional development of social work is seriously threatened by the problem. Therefore, as a new profession, it is important to observe the development of the industry in the professional mobility of social work.This research is based on the push-pull theory, and uses narrative research method, interviewed three female social workers who are represent three typical types of professional mobility in an organization of Shanghai. Through the analysis of their professional experience, the regularity of professional mobility was explored, and proposals to promote the professional identity of social workers were presented accordingly.It is found that the profession mobility of social workers is closely related to the degree of personal recognition, public support for social work and the development degree of the industry. It shows that the profession mobility of social workers is affected by the combination of the pushing and pulling force. There is a push and pull relationship between the social work and other industries, and the relationship is also within the social work industry, and the pushing and pulling force will change with the environment. Meanwhile, this study found that the traditional factors such as marriage, family and children are the important factors in female social workers career choice. This finding has implications for the future development of social work which main employee is female.
