| English is found in every corner of our life. Every English information include its specific cultural meaning. With the increase of the inter-cultural communication in China, English culture teaching has been an important thing in English teaching. English culture teaching is also important to English teaching in junior middle schools. According to the Nine Levels of the new English curriculum standard, after finishing the junior middle school, students should realize the cultural differences from the inter-cultural communications, then notice the cultural differences between China and English-speaking countries, and understand the cultural differences at last. English culture should have been the things students would like to know. However, nowadays neither students nor teachers pay more attention to English culture. And the lack of teaching methods of English culture is also a big problem. The main method is to explain directly. With the development of the information technology, watching cultural videos becomes another method of teaching English culture. But, comparing with other parts of English teaching, in fact people haven’t done enough for English culture teaching.The new English curriculum reform claims that teachers should pay more attention to the development of students. Students speak more and teachers just acts as the leader who can lead students to learn how to learn. It is very similar to the interactive approach to language pedagogy. So the author tries to use the interactive approach to language pedagogy to teach English culture in this thesis. And the author expects some references can be offered to other teachers in order to improve the English culture teaching.This thesis aims to explore the application of the interactive approach to language pedagogy in English culture teaching in junior middle school in order to check the influence the method makes on it. The students in C2, G8 and C4, G8 of Tongji Middle School are selected as experimental examinees. And they will be experimented on with questionnaires and tests for checking the differences between the traditional English culture teaching and the interactive approach to language pedagogy. During the experiment, the author has collected a mass of data and analyzed them.It is found that the interactive approach to language pedagogy makes a positive effect on the improvement of students’ English after using it to teach English culture. At the same time, the students’learning abilities have been strengthened. After the experiment, the students who receive the interactive approach to language pedagogy have a greater interest in learning English and have a closer relationship with teachers. What’s more, this teaching method needs teachers to know and study more about the English culture and Chinese culture. |
