Children Literature is the earliest literature pattern, playing the irreplaceable role in opening the mind, cultivating the character and training the language. Children Literature is one of the major courses for kindergarten teacher school, which is not only a literature course but also a required course to cultivate kindergarten teacher’s literacy skill. As an important base in southeastern Shanxi for training kindergarten teacher, the children literature course of Southeastern Shanxi Kindergarten Teacher School is facing with embarrassing situation. On one hand, although children literature belongs to Chinese subject, it does not belong to general knowledge course. It has such less class time, simple teaching method and insipid theory that can hardly arouse students’ interest. On the other hand, its professional skill has always been ignored within the deeply rooted teaching model, which leads to the students’ blindness to the role it plays in their future career and lacking of study motivation.This paper has studied the current situation of children literature in Southeastern Shanxi Kindergarten Teacher School, taking picture storybook teaching for example,combining the characteristics and functions of picture storybook, to discuss the improvement strategy of children literature teaching. This paper is composed of three parts introduction, main body and conclusion. The main body consists of three chapters. The first chapter overviews the children literature’s funtion upon children education. The second chapter has surveyed the students’ recognition toward picture storybook in Southeastern Shanxi Kindergarten Teacher School and analyzed the current situation of children literature learning. The third chapter discusses the teaching method based on picture storybook, having a teaching attempt by combining the students’ interests and strong points and the picture storybook’s novelty feature.This paper takes picture storybook literary form as a focus, cultivating students’ interests in children literature by situated learning method, helping students achieve the transition from I am wanted to study – I want to study – I can use by simulated class, to change the students’ recognition toward the children literature, strengthen their applying capability and equip them with the basic qualities as kindergartenteachers.
