With the continuous progress of industrialization and urbanization in China, the nationwide population migration has been increasingly active with the migrant workers phenomenon becoming a major one in China’s economic and social development. Compulsory education is a basic policy of our country to improve people’s quality. The migrant workers’ participation in the economic development of the inflow areas is a long process. The children of migrant workers inevitably need to attend school where their parents work for family reunion, better education and other reasons. How to provide education for these children not only is a major issue in China’s compulsory education system to be addressed, but also relates to the economic and social development, and the stability of public order.Compulsory education is a major reform of China’s education system, with reference to basic social welfare system in connection with compulsory education in foreign countries. In China’s economic and social development, compulsory education is an important policy to perfect the education system, improve people’s quality, sustain healthy economic development, and maintain social long-term stability based on the economic development. Due to poor learning foundation, lack of parental care, and the prevailing alternate-generation education, migrant workers’ children are susceptible to various problems when receiving education. In the implementation of compulsory education policy, it is critical that the government tackles problems found in the compulsory education of these children by adopting necessary supplementary policies and continuously meet the practical needs of migrant workers, which is also worth studying.The most important part of the development of the compulsory education policy for migrant workers’ children is to ensure sufficient funding for education. This paper consists of five parts. It examines the policy and funding support of compulsory education for the accompanying children of migrant workers by elaborating on the study background, discussing policy evolvement and changes in funding support, interpreting existing problems in specific cases, analyzing the reasons, and finally proposing solutions.
