However, there is heterogeneity in these 2 capacities among different age levels, so the research of the influence of age structure of population on economic growth through the heterogeneity of economic activities in different age levels has vital theoretical and practical significance. With the development of social economy, there are profound changes in the age structure of population in Hunan Province. These changes, such as the declining workforce, and the aging of population arouse the attention of all circles of the society. How to optimize the age structure of population to promote the sustainable development of it and the economy becomes a great challenge of Hunan. In this background, the thesis analyzes the influence of the age structure of population on economic growth, through literature research, the combination of quantitative and qualitative analysis, and that of normative and empirical analysis. Besides, the thesis makes a descriptive analysis of the changes in the age structure of population and demographic dividend in Hunan. Based on the relevant statistics from 1994 to 2014, the influence of the age structure of population on the economic growth in Hunan has been analyzed from 3 aspects, namely, the input of workforce, deposits and consumption, the results show that the input of labor force promote the economic growth effectively, which is the most important reason for economic growth in Hunan;the rising old-age dependency ratio also promotes the economic growth with the increase in saving deposit;children’s dependency ratio has a positive correlation with consumption, but its influence on economic growth is not obvious.
