China is in the process of the aging of population and the reform of the social security system. With the huge change of the population structure, the social security system has been reformed and improved with increase of the social security burden and the gradual lack of the old-aged supporting resource. In the changing social reality,China's economic growth slowed down in recent years, and labor force participation rate decreased year by year, which had to attract attention.Based on the current situation of our country, this thesis will find the impact of the labor force participation rate changes from the population structure and pension insurance, and then puts forward some suggestions.Tirst of all,the thesis starts from the theory of labor force participation rate, and then analyzes the changes of labor force participation rate, population structure and pension insurance system in China in recent years. On this basis, the thesis discusses the mechanism of how the population structure and pension insurance influence the labor force participation rate. Then, using the overlapping-generations model, the thesis puts population structure and pension insurance in the same analytical framework to analyze the influence on the labor force participation rate.Based on the inter-provincial panel data from 2004 to 2015,the thesis conducts an empirical research. The results indicate that the children's dependency ratio and the elderly dependency ratio respectively have significant positive and negative effect on the labor force participation rate, and the per capita pension insurance expenditure has a significant positive impact on the labor force participation rate.In addition, the development of per capita income and education level promote the labor participation rate, while the increase of the proportion of the tertiary industry in the GDP has a negative effect. Finally, the sample data is divided into three sub-samples of the eastern, central and western regions, and the thesis illuminates the regional differences of the population structure's and pension insurance's impacts through comparative analysis. In the underdeveloped economy or before industrial restructuring and upgrading, the decline in labor force participation rate has an impediment to economic development. Therefore, the thesis puts forward some suggestions, such as further relaxing the family planning policy, implementing related supporting policies, perfecting the social security system to improve the full coverage, extending retirement age, developing reasonable pension receiving and spending measures as well as increasing educational reform and investment to raise human capital investment.
