The classical Chinese teaching has been a hot issue in the field of Chinese education circles. How to optimize the teaching of classical Chinese has a serious problem to Chinese educators. As an important tool to consolidate the knowledge of classical Chinese, and assist the teaching of classical Chinese, practice after class plays an important role in the teaching of classical Chinese. Therefore, the study of classical Chinese exercises after class has become an important issue.However, in the classical Chinese teaching in the after-school exercises, there are varying degrees of problems in design and use. Therefore, how to design a scientific,reasonable optimization of classical Chinese homework design, improve efficiency of using the after-school exercise, promote the teaching of classical Chinese is valuable.Taking the same articles’ exercise as the research object, use the PEP Chinese Textbooks and Chinese textbook for Jiangsu(compulsory) as an example. Based on the reference of related literature at home and abroad, using literature method,comparative method, statistical analysis, and so on, making a comparative analysis of the same articles in the PEP Chinese textbooks and Chinese textbook for Jiangsu(compulsory) in order to find their own advantages and disadvantages. The PEP Chinese textbooks focus on the basic knowledge of classical Chinese in the exercise system, the quantity of applied practice is less. But students can grasp basic knowledge. The design of the exercises problem in accordance with the way from from the shallower to the deeper, and in the line with the students learning rules. The exercise in Jiangsu focus on the applied exercise. It can stimulate students’ interest in learning. But the basic knowledge training is too less. It will cause the students feel hard to grasp writings in classical style. Exercises the number, types and distributionin different paragraphs will different degrees of influence on students’ writings in classical style.Based on the data and the analysis of the specific exercise, this paper uses relevant theories of Anderson’s “Cognitive process dimension” to put forward the advantages and disadvantages of the exercise ‘s design in the two versions. At the same time, it gives some amendments on the design. The design of the classical Chinese exercises have special requirements. It must be different from the modern passages. The exercises of classical Chinese should focus on the the training of basic knowledge of classical Chinese, and develop the students’ ability of reading and understanding classical Chinese. It also need to pay attention to complete application problem, to make the classical and real life related. The real humanism and unification of instrumental, promote the writings in classical style after-school exercises a design more reasonable, optimize the writings in classical style teaching.
