Maria Montessori(1870-1952),the first female medical doctor in Italy,and the founder of the first “children’ s house”,is considered to be a far-reaching person as Frobel.However,as a key composition of her thoughts,the research on childhood self-education was only at the concept or significance level,so it greatly needs systematic analysis.This article uses historical method and document analysis method,reading original books of Montessori,finding the essence of it.Through summarizing,organizing,analyzing the ideas from different books,I try my best to restore the thoughts and method systems on Montessori’ s childhood self-education,in the aim to provide a useful view in deepening the comprehensive reform on our preschool education.This article is divided into five parts.First part is introduction,it contains the background and significance of the theme,and the status,research methods,and the key points.Then this article describes the social background and ideological origins of Montessori’ s childhood self-education.Then,this article analyzes Montessori childhood self-education,and summarizes it as four points:“children are the father of adults”,“Minimize interference”,“arouse life,let it free”,“no independence,no freedom”.Next,the article evaluates the points of Montessori’ s childhood self-education,including historical contribution and the discussing part.At last,this article summarizes the enlightenment of it :changing traditional concepts,establishing a correct children view,grasping the opportunity,creating a prepared environment;respecting natural instincts,emphasizing children sensory education;praising independent operation,encouraging children self-reflection.
