A Research On The Problems And Improvements Of Teacher Prep In American

Currently, the countries in the world pay more attention to the development of teachers’ professionalization, and they are all in the effort to improve teachers’ professional development as the goal of teacher education reform. The United States has been at the forefront of the world in terms of teacher prep reform. The paper is based on the analysis of "Teacher Prep Review Report" of 2013 and 2014 which released by National Council on Teacher Quality, studying the successful experience and failure lessons of American teacher education program, which help to improve the system of teacher prep.This paper consists of the introduction and three chapters: the introduction part discusses the reasons for this topic, the significance of the study, the definition of related concepts, the relevant research at home and abroad, and research methods. The first chapter of this paper analyses the problems of teacher prep in the United States,presenting the feature of diversity of the development; the second chapter analyses and studies "Teacher Prep Review Report" released by National Council on Teacher Quality, identifying problems faced by the United States of teacher education, the problems are as follows: the standard of selection criteria is low, the contents of preparation are fragmentary, the professional skills are insufficiency; the third chapter is based on the study of "Teacher Prep Review Report", taking measures to solve the problems of teacher education from the standards of teacher prep and the methods to improve the teacher prep, and they take the measures from the teacher candidates’,school districts’, deans’ of teacher preparation programs and state policy makers’ point of view.
