In the background of American education reform, standards for teacher educators born. It's a breakthrough in the process of teachers'professionalization. Standards for teacher educators puts forward new requirements for teacher educators. Standards for teacher educators is the guideline of professional development of teacher educators. This paper centers on standard of teacher educators, studying its background and factor, the process of formulation and revision, basic content, implementation and development, implication. Firstly, the background, from three aspects:education reform's focus, teacher education reform, teacher professional development. The promotion and exploitation of The Association of Teacher Educators and the development of teacher educators qualification requirements are main factors. Secondly, paper analyses the formulation and revision process of the 1996 edition and 2008 edition standards for teacher educators. Thirdly, presenting the main content of two versions of standards for teacher educators and analyzing from the perspective of role.Then, on the implementation and development, expatiates the way and the case of the implementation. Finally, the paper combines with our country's actual situation and education reform, sharing some suggestions from standards for teacher educators.
