Schoolwork overburden of primary and middle school students is not only a widespread influenced social problem, but also an education problem the social public opinion concentrated on. Since the fifties of the last century, National Education Department has released more than 30 instructions, decision and notice to take the load off; assessment mechanism has been reformed along with the development of curriculum reform. Primary school is the initial stage of school education system in our country, and it is also an important link in the basic education system.In recent years, in order to promote a new round of curriculum reform of basic education to the next level, in some areas of Shanghai appeared a new assessment method of performance assessment, In 1st and 2nd grade, paper homework and paper examination have been canceled, and gradually instead of performance assessment. Performance assessment is a kind of method which meet the modern concept of the reform process, assess students’ ability and the level of thinking, emotion and attitude during the process they use knowledge to solve the problem. As early as twentieth Century, in the tide of worldwide curriculum reform, performance assessment was applied in British, the United States and other developed countries, however, performance assessment still in its initial stage in China. In this paper, based on the current situation of the reform of academic assessment, this paper points out the shortcomings of traditional assessment methods, and makes a deep research on how to design the performance assessment tasks.The performance assessment research can be generally divided into three parts: in the first chapter of this article mainly expounds the state of art topic, the research situation at home and abroad, expounds the significance and importance of assessment of student learning and development. The second chapter and the third are a very important part of the paper. In those chapter, the related content of the performance assessment is defined; its basic theory and the content of teaching assessment are analyzed in detail. The fourth chapter and the fifth chapter are the core parts of this thesis. The chapter mainly carries on the qualitative analysis to the performance assessment, and some problems in the performance assessment implementation process have been presented. In the fourth chapter, the specific analysis and elaboration of the types of performance assessment task design and the design steps are carried out. The fifth chapter interprets performance task design concrete strategy of design, by studying the performance assessment task characteristics and implementation, lists the basic conditions for the performance assessment task, a direction for the teachers to design and practice performance assessment task have been provided.
