The leveled reading was formed in the United States, in the practice process, forming a convincing leveling standards and different leveling methods. And it improves the students’reading proficiency and reading skills, also the reading achievement gap is narrowed, the specialization of reading teaching is enhanced. In contrast, although our reading performance in the PISA test is in the first place, but in the class all the students read the same material as the main learning method and teach reading skills as the main teaching methods. The study of leveled reading is still in the initial stage and is not widely accepted in practice and teachers’teaching.Therefore, in this paper, we use the literature method, case study and comparative research methods as the main research methods to study the leveled reading. This paper analyzes the origin of the leveled reading,the standards of leveling and the main leveling methods, finding that it improves the students’ reading scores and reading skills, But there are also some problems in the leveled reading, such as simplify the complex issues, ignore the needs of students, and so on.Finally, this paper will combine the practice of Chinese reading teaching, revealing the existing problems, and puts forward some policy suggestions on the study and teaching of reading. Such as develop a government unified leveled reading standard as soon as possible; form a Level Reading Research Association laddered by the Chinese Association, at the same time we should reform our existing form of reading teaching, coordinating all parties involved into the reading reform to form a love reading, enjoy reading and national reading atmosphere.
