A Study On Gu Sui’s Pedagogy Of Classical Chinese

There are still many problems needed to be studied and reformed in current classical Chinese instruction of senior high school.For exampte,many Chinese teachers insist on examination-oriented instructional method about classical Chinese,focusing on recitation and translation.But it is against the basic idea of Chinese curriculum standards,which emphasizes cultivating human’s moral character.So,it is still an important problem that how to breakthrough the fragmented instructional method and highlight the valuable connotations of classical Chinese.At this point,the thesis turns to the classical Chinese instruction of the republic of China,based on the current situation of Chinese curriculum and instruction.And this thesis studies Gu Sui’s pedagogy of classical Chinese,whose core issue is how Gu Sui combined cultivating human’s moral character with classical Chinese instruction.This thesis analyzes Gu Sui’s pedagogy of classical Chinese mainly from four aspects,which are composed of the formation process about Gu Sui’s instructional thought and his instructional objectives, content, methods.Firstly,it analyses the formation process of Gu Sui’s pedagogy of classical Chinese,which focuses on cultivating people,according to Gu Sui’s educational career.The next part analyses the connotation of his instructional objectives and his choice about the classical Chinese.Gu Sui’s instructional objectives emphasize not only people’s moral characters,but also behavior.And he often choose the valuable classical Chinese as instructional content,which meets high literary standard in form and content. Then,the thesis analyze Gu Sui’s instructional methods,which focus on heuristic method and behavior demonstration.Finally,the thesis analyzes the contemporary significance of Gu Sui’s pedagogy of classical Chinese with curriculum standards,mainly from the instruction objective and the method.
