Teaching is not only an important mission of the University, but also one of the main responsibilities of teachers. However, with the continuous expansion of university functions, scientific researches have become more and more important in the University and the value of university teachers as researchers have become increasingly prominent. Therefore, it is essential for universities and teachers to have a more comprehensive understanding of teaching and research. The idea of academic teaching is put forward to meet the requirements, which is of great significance to the reexamination of the teaching functions and the professional nature of the teachers.In fact, the concept about scholarship of teaching and learning has offered a clear description and explanation for the teaching research related work. However, has this concept been recognized by the vast number of teachers? And can it be successfully implemented into the practice? Although some scholars have already launched empirical investigation, but the conclusions are widely divergent and difficult to learn the insights of teachers and other benefit related of the scholarship of teaching and learning. Therefore, by combing and analyzing the related literature, this study adopts the form of open interview, having discussions with university teachers and university faculty engaged in teaching management from the perspective of four issues that "what is the scholarship of teaching and learning" "why do you engage in the scholarship of teaching and learning" "what is the function of it" and "how to protect operation of the scholarship of teaching and learning."Through the research, it can be learned that not all university teachers agree that the scholarship of teaching and learning philosophy and some teachers do not want to engage in this activity. Teachers carry out less scholarship of teaching and learning and have difficulties in obtaining and sharing excellent academic achievements. It is because of the division between the research and teaching existence and the narrow cognition of teaching and academic achievements. In addition, lack of internal motivation and external security to carry out the scholarship of teaching and learning. Finally, combining with the above research finds and the current university conditions, the specific path which is suitable for China’s university teachers developing the scholarship of teaching and learning is put forward from the level of teacher professional development, teacher evaluation system and the teaching management.
