Grassroots educational administrators in colleges are responsible for providing teaching management services for all teachers and students on the campus. Their emotional status during work can directly affect their work performance and service level. In order to facilitate X University to promote smile service in its functional departments, this project, with reference to EAP-a widely-used employee emotion management tool in western countries, attempts to help grassroots educational administrators of X University well manage their negative emotions, keep favorable physical and emotional status, and improve job performance and service level. On the basis of theoretical research, this thesis carried out detailed research and analysis of the emotional intelligence of grassroots educational administrators in X University, their common negative emotions, and factors that may lead to such negative emotions. Altogether, this study distributed 62 questionnaires, with 61 valid questionnaires collected. Besides, grassroots educational administrators and teachers (30 Nos. in total) were interviewed. After data cleansing and analysis, the following findings are discovered:First, the emotional intelligence of grassroots educational administrators is a little bit over the medium level, but they display relatively weak capacities in assessing others’ emotions and regulating their own emotions.Second, the negative emotions that may happen during the work of grassroots educational administrators are presented below in a descending order in terms of their frequency:boredom, indifference, depression, frustration, anxiety, and lack of direction. Among them, anxiety is more likely to occur on female employees than on their male counterparts.Third, the emergence of negative emotions is triggered by the job features, organizational management and personal factors of some grassroots educational administrators.Fourth, about 42.6% grassroots educational administrators lack satisfaction for their jobs.On the basis of the above research results and with a reference to previous studies and the status quo of X University, this thesis designed an EAP scheme to facilitate negative emotion management among grassroots educational administrators in X University. This scheme provides EAP services for both employees and organization and offers three integrated approaches to solve problems. First, it aims to help employees change their improper cognition. Second, it attempts to improve employees’capacity in emotion management, help them properly handle existing negative emotions, and enable them to master the knowledge and approaches of assessing the emotions of others and their own as well as carrying out effective self stimulus. Third, the scheme seeks to shift the management concept of the regulators, improve management measures, and reduce or eliminate external factors that may trigger negative emotions.
