On the grounds of students’ examination scores and comprehensive qualities, Chinese composition teaching has always been a concern from all walks of life. Composition competence is not only the important standard to measure students’ performance in Chinese learning, but also closely linked to the improvement of the whole nation’s quality. Many first-line teachers have paid much effort to composition teaching and also made a great deal of valuable explorations. However it’s a pity that Chinese composition teaching in senior high is still faced with "low-inefficient", even "invalid" situation. Therefore, senior high school students’ writing ability really worrying. This thesis, starting with the problems existing in senior high Chinese composition teaching and based on the first-line teachers’ teaching experiences and some related theories, proposes some practical countermeasures and suggestions to solve the status quo of senior high Chinese composition teaching.The first chapter of this paper is an introduction, mainly including the background and objectives of research, current situation of this study at home and abroad, and research scope and methods. Chapter Two deals with four problems in senior high. The first one involves lack of the sequence, systematic and coherent composition textbooks and "reading-oriented" textbooks ignore the importance of composition teaching. The second one revolves around the chaos and arbitrariness and of composition teaching contents. The third one related to teachers, including the teachers’ backward teaching concept, their personal low writing qualities and low-efficient evaluation and correction methods.The forth one is related to students. Students don’t pay enough attention to composition, lack reading accumulation and enlightments for life. In the light of these four aspects, Chapter Three aims to present the efficient ways and countermeasures for senior high composition teaching.(1)To construct systematic and scientific composition teaching. (2)To enhance teachers’ cognition and abilities. (3)To improve students’ basic competence writing.This paper, on the basis of previous studies on senior high composition teaching, puts forward the practical assumptions and suggestions to change the status quo of composition teaching from perspectives of teaching, teachers and students. The purpose of this thesis is to elevate students’ composition competence and Chinese qualities, and to improve learning abilities and comprehensive quality of Chinese traditional culture.
