| This is a small scale comparison research that includes two Chinese and two Serbian kindergartens. This is a very challenging research due to two very different countries and different levels of their development. My goal was to research about parents-children activities in kindergartens in both countries, specifically how the teachers organize parents-children activities, how the teachers choose topics for activities, how the teachers guide parents during activities. On the other side the research also follows how the parents assist teachers in those activities, are they active or just passive followers. At the end the research gives some suggestions in order to improve teachers’and parents’roles in parents-children kindergarten activities, the cooperation between teachers and parents and parents-children activities. According to the Chinese model of parents-children activities to make suggestions for Serbian teachers and parents how to develop and improve parents-children activities. This research analyzes dissertations, essays and books about kindergarten parents-children activities and elaborates all the relevant facts. The research also uses research methods of observation, questionnaire and interview. Firstly, uses the method of observation to learn about the content and forms of kindergarten’s parents-children activities. Secondly, uses a questionnaire for teachers and parents to learn more about parents-children activities in practice. Thirdly, uses an interview for parents and teachers for a deeper understanding of all aspects of kindergarten’s parents-children activities. After all the information and survey results are collected the research discusses existing problems and possible solutions. The thesis uses methods of questionnaire, interview, observation and literature analysis of 2 selected kindergartens in Serbia and 2 in China, one high quality kindergarten and one low quality kindergarten from both countries. It elaborates specific situations in kindergarten’s parents-children activities and according to its actual situation offers several proposals for improving kindergarten’s parents-children activities in Serbia as these activities are on a lower level of development than activities in China. The research displays that teachers and parents have a good understanding on the value of kindergarten’s parents-children activities. In the process, teachers organize activities and provide guidance for parents. There is a lot of interaction among teachers, parents and children and the contents are various in both countries. The study also finds some flaws, such as time arrangement, the contents and forms need innovation, low level of parents’involvement and interaction quality is not high, lack of teachers’effectiveness. After comparing Chinese and Serbian kindergarten’s parents-children activities I have discovered that both of these countries attach great importance to these activities. Basic situation in Chinese kindergarten’s parents-children activities is more developed, teachers have more working experience in parents-children activities, on the other side parents in Serbia participate in the work and activities of the kindergarten but the problem is that sometimes the parents made proposals to the local self-government for improving cooperation between parents and the kindergarten, but they did not answer or many times they rejected these proposals. Most likely because there are many other issues to be solved or just right now there are no conditions to solve problems in kindergarten education. This is a suggestion for both Chinese and Serbian kindergartens to pay more attention to the kindergarten parent-child activities, and for everyone to work more and raise the level of preschool education. |
