Innovation and entrepreneurship has become the main theme of the 21 st century, entrepreneurship education could not only stimulate people’s spirit of innovation, risk-taking and hard work, but also create jobs, ease the employment pressure, making it become the engine of economic development. What’s more, entrepreneurship education could trigger a universal wave of innovation and entrepreneurship, to realize the development of their own, as well as the whole social and country.The development process over 60 years makes entrepreneurship education in American universities obtain great success and even become a national model of implanting entrepreneurship education, the three major characteristics of American Entrepreneurship Education includes long entrepreneurial culture tradition, strong external support forces and comprehensive entrepreneurship education system. It’s the inevitable trend to promote entrepreneurship education vigorously to ease employment pressure and enhance the national capacity for innovation and entrepreneurship in China. Research of the development of entrepreneurship education in American universities can provide a useful reference for our entrepreneurship education.The thesis is divided into five chapters, the first chapter is the introduction, introducing the origin of research from three aspects and the significance of entrepreneurship education, combining literature review at home and abroad, clarify research ideas and methods of the study, and defining the concept of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship education. The second chapter is to describe the overview of entrepreneurship education in American universities, including the development of American entrepreneurship education has gone through three stages, the start, development and maturity, moreover, America possesses a number of impressive achievements and abundant research in entrepreneurship education. The third chapter is a summary of the practice of entrepreneurship education in American universities, including entrepreneurship education content standards, curriculum system, teaching staff and educational evaluation. The fourth chapter is the focus of this study, analyze the characteristics of American entrepreneurship education from three aspects: entrepreneurial culture, entrepreneurial support and entrepreneurship system, and discuss the challenge the American entrepreneurship education faces and the ways how to improve. The fifth chapter is to provide suggestions for entrepreneurship education in China from the analysis of American entrepreneurship. Firstly introduce the current status of entrepreneurship education in China, then analyze the dilemmas that our entrepreneurship education meet:utilitarian goals, unsound curriculum system and inadequate teaching team, and lastly propose solutions to improve entrepreneurship education in China, including changing the concept of entrepreneurship education, strengthening curriculum system construction and teaching team building.
