Agricultural specialty provides manpower and technical support for agriculture development, professional settings is the interface between vocational education and economy, impacts on the development of professional colleges directly. This research mainly about the settings of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty, using literature analysis, survey research, comparative analysis and other research methods to analyze the macro and microcosmic situation about the settings of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty, summed up the characteristics and problems of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty in our country, and learn from the experience of Japan and British, proposed measures to optimize our higher professional college’s agricultural specialty. The main results of this paper are following:1. This research defines the relative concepts. These concepts contain professional college, agriculture, specialty, specialist catalog and professional vocational settings. Professional college is defined as vocational school level institutions of higher learning. This paper defined agriculture as agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry and fishery science and technology and related fields relevant to the implementation of education. And this paper gives a definition of specialty as the academic categories, which divided according to the needs of social division of labor. Specialist catalog is defined as professional directories, which guide the universities and higher professional college by the ministry of education. Professional vocational settings is defined set up and adjust higher professional college’s specialty on the basis of specialist catalog.2. The research analyses the macro situation about the settings of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty. The research is formed on six dimensionalities, consist of the regional distribution of higher professional colleges, the specialty scale, coordination degree with the first industry development, courses and employment to elaborate the macro situation about the settings of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty, to further analyzed the characteristics contain the balance of the regional distribution in higher professional colleges, the scale expand of specialist catalog outside, the agricultural specialty structure is reasonable and the coordination development agricultural professional scale and agriculture, there are also some current problems, mainly include the enrollments in different areas are unbalanced, the average enrollments of the profession are not reasonable, professional training target the same name and different professions, the employment situation of some agricultural specialty is grim and other issues,used to improve the quality of agricultural professional training, but also conducive to enrich and improve the framework in the settings of higher professional college.3. Survey three vocational colleges contains Liaoning Agriculture Vocational Technical College, Liaoning Forestry Vocational Technical College, Liaoning Water Polytechnic Vocational College, analyze the situation,characteristics and problems about the settings of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty.4. The research analyses the situation of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty in British and Japan, summed the characteristics of higher professional college’s agricultural specialty in developed foreign country, and proposed measures to optimize our higher professional college’s agricultural Specialty.5.
