Cultivation Of College Students’ Social Responsibility Mechanism

Contemporary college students are the future of the country and the hope of the nation. Their specific social status and roles determine their social responsibility. However, with the diversification of values and ideologies, some students were hugely influenced and their sense of responsibility got weak. The social reality determines the importance of fostering the growth of students’responsibility. Cultivating students’ sense of social responsibility not only relates to the country’s future and destiny, but also is the requirement of building a harmonious socialist society and realizing Chinese nation’s great rejuvenation.Based on the defining of responsibility, the sense of responsibility and college students’social sense of responsibility, on the organizing of the relation theory of freedom and responsibility, the personal value and the social value in Marxism human theory and Marxist practice epistemology theory, this paper analyzes the status quo of the cultivation of college students’ social responsibility and accordingly explores the personal inherent formation mechanism and the external cultivation mechanism, both of which influence the formation of the social responsibility. Internal generation mechanisms include psychological mechanism, dynamic mechanism, and capacity mechanism. In psychological mechanism, the awareness of social responsibility is the inducing power, the emotion of social responsibility promotes the formation of it, the psychological identity is the important link; moral need is intrinsic motivation and altruism is the extrinsic one, both of which promote the formation of the sense of responsibility; free will is the motivational guarantee; capability mechanism includes the individual physical and mental development, the ability to distinguish social responsibility, the will power for responsibility and the disposing capacity of it. External cultivation mechanism of social responsibility will be analyzed respectively in terms of the concept of cultivation, objectives, content, and methods. Colleges and universities should update the concept of cultivation, combining student-based orientation, legal education with moral cultivation and returning to life. At the same time they should change objectives, achieve the utilitarianism of cultivation goals, and adhere to systematic and hierarchical goals. University should cultivate students’ sense of responsibility, including law consciousness education and political participation awareness education, rights and compulsory education, life education. On the specific cultivating ways, university should build the mechanism of student participation, adhere to the combination of theoretical guidance and social practice, nurture the responsibility in conflict situations,and exercise students’will in frustration. Finally, university should effectively integrate school resources and foster the cohesion strength of school and out-school.
