A Research On Intergenerational Relationships In Rural Areas Under The Inter-generation Bring-up

In the period of social transformation, along with rural young labor migrant, rural family structure occured a great change. The inter-generation bring-up families of left-behind grandparents and left-behind children has become a widespread family type in rural area with a high rate of labor migrant. The author believes the change of rural family structure and the mode of bring-up, lead to the rural intergenerational relationship, compare with the traditional, shows different characteristics, eapecially in the interaction between grandparents, parents and children, who are the main bearers of inter-generation bring-up families. The purpose of this writing is to analysis the inter-generation bring-up families, the current situation and characteristics of intergenerational rinteraction of rural inter-generation bring-up families, peculiarly the characteristics and problems of intergenerational interaction between grandparents, parents and children, evaluate the intergenerational interaction in the rural areas under the inter-generation bring-up families, based on the analysis in the parer, and do the utmost to put forward the suitable solutions on the basis of problems.This study uses the field survery methods which is united with obervation, depth interviews, and questionnaire method. The field is a village called Bai Chi in Yu Shan town of Peng Shui county of Chong Qing. Combined with theoretical knowledge of sociology and social psychology, the author has a comprehensive analysis of the current situation, characteristics and problems of the intergenerational interaction under the rural inter-generation bring-up families. Through the research, the author found a few states: The interaction between grandparents and parents is two-way, on the financial and material support, mainly from parents to grandparent, however, the financial support from parent can not totally guarantee the living quality and the household expenses of grandparent; Because of the parents’ long-term body-absence in the emotion communication, the face-to-face interation is mainly between grandparents and children, meanwhile the communication mode of parents, grandparents and children relys on the media like telephone with a low-frequency; parents can not take care of grandparents in daily life. The characteristics of the intergenerational interaction in the rural areas under the inter-generation bring-up families: Grandparents take the responsibility of child-rearing from parents, gives rise to the rationalization of the intergenerational interaction between grandparent and parents, on the account of the long-term lack of parent-children interaction and emotional distance. The author also evaluate the basic situation and problems, according to the performance and characteristics of the intergenerational interaction of the inter-generation bring-up families. Finally, the author gives some suggestions in the improvement of national macro-policy, the assistance from the community, and the adjustment within the family, on the analysis of the above research.
