The Development Of Elderly Social Work In Rural Areas

With the development of society and economy, people’s living standard has beenimproved continuously, the living demand of the elderly in rural areas is constantlychanging. The old have more spiritual needs besides the physical demand. Social work,as a mean of social service, have a good influence on meeting the needs of the elderly.Based on Yonglian Village in Zhangjiagang City, this paper have made a deeplystudy of aged social work about Yonglian village from the levels of community workand group work through on-the-spot investigation.Community workers play asignificant role in the development of aged social work; The social organizations’ development makes a professional way for the aged social work in Yonglian village.Community activities and group activities not only can help the older solve problems,but also can provide spiritual comfort for them. There are also some problems besidesthe success about elderly social work in Yonglian. Analyzing these problems, thispaper puts forward some feasible development proposals.
