With the further development of reform and opening up, China’s international status and influence are constantly rising. The number of overseas students increases significantly year by year, especially of those overseas language learners who come to China with the main purpose of learning Chinese language. However, the current over-administrative teaching management mode cannot meet the complex administration requirements and consequently influence the improvement of teaching qualities as well as the establishment of education brand.This paper, viewing with a multicultural perspective, probes into the reform strategies of the foreign language education and teaching management. Through sorting and summarizing relevant researches home and abroad on overseas Chinses teaching management, and with the adoption of research methods such as questionnaire survey, interviewing, etc. this paper, based on the typical example of A college of Guangdong, explores the influence of the multicultural background of Chinese language learners to the teaching management, and proposes some optimized strategies so as to provide a reference to improve the quality of Chinese language education in China.In the age of globalization, education for overseas students is an important part of Chinese education and diplomacy. Its sale and level reflect China’s comprehensive strength to some extent. The development of education for overseas students has important implications on enhancing China’s comprehensive national strength, advancing China’s international status and improving China’s international image. In the developing phase of the internationalization of China’s education, the number of overseas language learners takes up a large proportion of the overseas students in China. The multicultural background of the overseas language learners proposes a great challenge to the current teaching management mode on aspects of traditional teaching management philosophy, curriculum system, teachers’overall quality, teaching mode and teaching assessment, etc. The over-administration and unification of the traditional teaching management mode could not meet the flexible teaching requirements of the overseas language learners.Through analyzing the research results of the questionnaires and interviews, the author finds that there are many problems lying in the teaching management of the overseas language learners studying in A College of Guangdong Province, which are mainly presented in the following six aspects:1) over-administration and unification of teaching management,2) sole curriculum which is lack of Chinese cultural and social courses,3) outdated, disjointed and unpractical teaching materials,4) the lack of cross-cultural communication abilities of the teachers with outmoded teaching philosophies,5) spoon-feeding method of teaching reduce students’learning initiative and enthusiasm, and 6) the mono-assessment based on the proficiency of the contents of textbooks, etc.In order to find out the reasons of the above problem, this paper, viewing with a multicultural perspective, sorts and analyzes the investigation and statistics of overseas language learners’ religious belief, nationality, native language, age, education level, study purposes and values, period of learning Chinese, family cultural background, and teachers’abilities of cross-cultural understanding and communication, etc. The analysis results show that the causes of teaching quality reduction are due to the different impacts on teaching management from cultural distinctions of overseas language learners with their complex origins, the degree of cultural adaptation, and teachers’abilities of cross-cultural understanding and communicating, etc.Based on the empirical research results, this paper, focusing on renewing teaching management philosophies, innovating teaching management mode, and establishing scientific and normative management and service system, etc., proposes some countermeasures that may optimize the overseas language learners’teaching management-change concept, renovate management methods, enhance service sense, establish scientific training system, adopt flexible teaching mode, cultivate the targeted development of teachers, perfect assessment system and enrich extracurricular and cultural activities, etc. The author hopes to provide a reference to the study of teaching management of overseas language learners and thus contribute to the improvement of the teaching quality of the overseas students’ education in China.
