A Research On The Interactions Of College Students Between Mainland China And Taiwan

Since the normalization of cross-strait relations, student interactions between the mainland China and Taiwan increased rapidly. Weather the mainland students studying in Taiwan, or Taiwan students studying in mainland, both have shown growth trend in the number and scale. Now it has formed three types of the exchange students, they are degree students, short-term exchange students, and subject exchange students. Both governments of the two sides have introduced policies to code for the college student interactions. The mainland China is always supportive on the college student interactions, and introduced a series benefits education policies to encourage Taiwan students come to the mainland to learn. But Taiwan’s policies on this term are relatively complex. It has undergone three stages and made the project of college students interactions working unstable.Overall, the college student interactions have achieved certain results:from one-way exchange to two-way exchange; also single-level exchanges developed to diversify; the scale of cross-strait exchanges Students gradually expand. These exchanges are helpful to increase feelings of the two sides students. It can also help Taiwan’s youth and people to clear up misunderstandings on the mainland China. However due to special historical relationship between the two sides, the college student interactions of cross-strait are facing with some difficulties, such as no effective exchange mechanism, too many restrictive rules on the exchange students. This affect the enthusiasm of the students who want to take part in the exchange. In this regard, the college of two sides should further innovation to explore cooperation model and establish effective mechanism. Both governments of the two sides should enhance mutual trust. In particular, Taiwan should be eliminated the unreasonable restrictions on the mainland students, and take out sincerity to promote the college student interactions between mainland China and Taiwan.
