The importance of reading teaching is self-evident, how to define the characteristics of reading teaching, and point out the goal and direction of reading teaching? "Ordinary high school language curriculum standards (Experiment)" pointed out that "reading is the text of the multiple dialogue between students, teachers and textbook editors.It also is the thought of the dynamic process of collision and spiritual communication." The essence of reading lies in the dialogue. Based on this understanding, to achieve a real sense of dialogue, effective questioning is an essential teaching means. Learning effective questions is the key to the success of reading teaching.This paper is divided into four parts. In the introduction part, it is discussed that the essence of reading teaching is "dialogue", asking questions is an effective means to promote dialogue, and the teaching of reading is closely related to effective questions. The first chapter of this paper mainly discusses the concept of effective questions and the characteristics of effective questions. In addition to clear what is a valid question, the author combined with previous studies and her own teaching thinking, put forward the five characteristics of effective questions, to facilitate the teacher’s self comparison and thinking. In the second chapter, through the questionnaire inquiry about teachers’ current situation of questioning in teaching reading, we know the the reason of invalid questioning of teachers, making their desire to change the status quo strong. In the last chapter of this paper, on the basis of specific examples of teaching texts,putting forward practical and feasible effective questioning strategy and help overcome the ineffective and inefficient questions, and gradually increasing the questioning ability of reading teaching of Chinese teachers, developping students thinking, promoting their own professional development.I believe the majority of teachers through this paper can recognize that putting forward a good question has a crucial role in the subjects of reading teaching and students’ learning. Teachers should take effective questioning ability as a professional core competence. They should get the concept of effective questioning awareness, change ineffective classroom questions, and constantly learn the relevant theoretical knowledge and effective questioning strategies. Students will fall in love with learning, learning to study, teachers will develop and improve themselves in the question and answer with the students.
