In the era of globalization and knowledge-based economy, information and internet technologies are changing every domain of the industry, and consequently human capital and intelligence capital are replacing the core strategic position of traditional physical capital and financial capital. The establishment of learning organization through organizational learning is the only way to improve human capital and intelligence capital, and this raises new demands for the construction and operation of a modern corporate university.Compared to traditional academic university, corporate university is a new thing for which research is quite behind of practice, and wordwidely the research on corporate university is just starting inpractice domain, consultancy domain, and academic domain. The practice of corporate university is presently lack of theoretical guidance. In this thesis, we make a systematic investigation on the theory of corporate university and use the company SDNY as an example to explore the models and approaches for the construction and operation of corporate universities. The research of this thesis is of both theoretical and practical help for various corporates which are in need of building their modern coporate universities.The theoretical basis, model of construction, and evaluation methods for corporate universities are systematically presented in this thesis. Especially we investigate the theoretical basis of corporate university from a new view angle of theory of intelligence capital, pointing out that knowledge innovation and E-learning are the two most important aspects of modern corporate universities in the future.The current situation of national and international corporate universities is obtained from a thorough investigation of relevant literatures. For those flagship corporate universities, we choose two of them for a field investigation and several tens of them for literature investigation through quantitive content analysis using a novel word frequency cloud approach, finding out that the use of E-learning in flasgship corporate universities has been dramatically developed in recent years and now widely used in general.Finally the results of theoretical and explorative research are utiliezed to investigate the practical construction and operation of corporate universities using the company SDNY as an example. For this purpose we first make a quatative evaluation forthe current satus of orgazational learning of SDNY from various aspects including a professional indicator analysis, a basic learning data analysis of the company, and a field investigation on the learning departments of its six subsidiary companies, and then SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, threats) analysis is further performed. Based on these analysis and an investigation on market situation, industry environment, and company stratigies, the construction and operation of SDNY corporate university is proposed using an approach based on system theory. The SDNY corporate university emphasizes on knowledge innovation and management, E-learning platform, and the strategic functions for the corporate. Constructing corporate university through integrating corporate internal learning resources can enhance human capital, intellectual capital, and culture fusion in the corporate. It can also support the realization of corporate strategy, and help on the corporate’s transition and development. The thesis provides a kind of theoretical basis as well as practical guidance for the construction of the corporate university of SDNY corporation.
