This research choose the selections of Chinese textbooks which used by the Primary School in Mainland China and Taiwan from the perspective of the value orientation. On the basis of examining the related concepts, selection principles of compiling and compiling system of both Chinese textbooks’ selections, analysing in depth of the value orientation present by the two textbooks’ selections in four aspects of genre and era, culture of field,gender role, theme features, then put forward the perfect vision on problems of the both selections’ value orientation,so as to give some reference to the compiling of both primary schools’ Chinese textbook. The study found that, in the genre and era characteristics of the selections, the Mainland textbooks highlight the literary orientation and tend to return to tradition,while Taiwan attach more importance to cultivate practical ability and emphasize the connection of Chinese and the present life, so Taiwan reflect the stronger modern consciousness. In addition, the tendency in the selections’ culture of field present that,although both places have a multicultural consciousness at the countries’ culture, national culture, urban and rural culture, but also have their limitations. Besides, in the selections’ characters of gender roles, it is still obvious that Mainland China and Taiwan both reflect the orientation of single gender center, the characteristic of roles are patterned, and characters’ personalities are stereotyped.What’s more, the feature of themes in selections of two versions pay equal attention to the moral orientation of ancient and modern and adopt the different angles of view.But the selections of Mainland are prominent in politics,values passed by Taiwan’s selections are more implicit.Therefore, in view of the three main problems which Mainland’s selections lacking children perspective, explicit presentation,and narrow multicultural understanding of the Chinese textbooks’ selections in bothMainland and Taiwan, writer puts forward three assumptions in the compiling of textbooks’ selections. Firstly, Mainland should follow the physical and mental development patterns of children, then optimize presentation mode of the value orientation.Meanwhile, both Mainland and Taiwan should update the content and enrich the category of the value orientation.
