At present,in the mainland of China,the issue of school life education ha s not received enough attention of the society.The student suicides that occur frequently in the primary school also once again alert the school that life educ ation is imminent.Although the Chinese textbook contains rich elements of life education,but the study of life education on primary school's Chinese textboo ks is not much.This study,on the base of reviewing literature about the connotation of life e ducation,and combined with the scholars' interpretation for the life education of primary Chinese Textbook from Mainland and Taiwan,embodies life educati on content for the following five main categories:the growth of life,ecologica 1 conservation,the value of life,overcoming life defects,and death,every of which are subdivided into sub categories.According to these categories,the mai nland PEP and Taiwan Kang Hsuan version of the primary Chinese textbook c ontent about the life education is comparatively analyzed,and it's has good reliab ility and validity.This study mainly presents,analyzes and compares the life education conte nt of PTP and Kang Hsuan versions of textbook according to the above five c ategories respectively,and finally draws the conclusion.Firstly,on the whole,wh at the life education of two versions of Primary Chinese Textbooks have in co mmon is that the life education selection component is not over 20%and it m ainly focuses on the growth of life,the value of life and ecological conservati on.The difference is reflected in the distribution of grade and content presentati on.Secondly,locally,PEP and Kang Hsuan has its own characteristics in five c ategories,many differences exist in quantity,proportion,grade distribution,and content presentation.According to the comparison results of the two versions and combined wit h the characteristics and distinctivenes of the Taiwan Kang Hsuan version of Pri mary Chinese Textbook,some suggestions are put forward to promote a better P EP version of Primary Chinese Textbook.Firstly,the proportion of life educatio n content in the textbook should be adjusted,including increasing the quantity and proportion of life education text-selection,and expanding the connotation o f the growth of life,the value of life,and overcoming life defects,besides,cuting the death issue reasonably.Secondly,the content of life education should be in accordance with law of somatopsychic development of students.Thirdly,the text content of life education should be close to the students' real experience.Fourth ly,selecting subject matter of life education carefully and integrating into a vari ety of caring for life.Fifthly,the presentation of text-selection's content should at tach importance to the functions of illustrations and Aesthetic feeling of layout design,manifesting humanistic color.
