With the continuous deepening of the reform of the teaching system, the teaching of English in primary schools has gradually attracted the attention of the parties. The traditional English teaching mode, over emphasis on grammar,vocabulary, sentence, sentence, a one-way infusion, it is easy to lead to the "dumb English" embarrassing phenomenon,but also easy to dampen the enthusiasm of students to learn English, so as to lead to the low efficiency of English teaching.Discourse teaching is a kind of teaching strategy which is currently rising. It emphasizes the ability of improving students’ ability to obtain information, digest and use information from the whole, and through the whole perception,internalization and mutual exchange.This paper to Xinyu hi tech Zone high a small, for example,to teaching objectives, teaching content, teaching methods as investigation index, on the section of English discourse teaching practice were detailed investigation and in-depth analysis. The results showed that the discourse teaching since its implementation, students’ reading ability, oral expression ability, writing ability, word guessing ability than in the past has greatly improved, and teacher’s theoretical level, professional level also obvious progress and teaching more calmly. Along with the discourse teaching mode, the students and teachers have promoted the improvement of the students and teachers, but there are still a lot to be improved, such as the positioning of the teaching target is not allowed, there is the phenomenon of fragmentation, the teaching content is monotonous, the lack of comprehensive;teaching methods lack of effective convergence, etc..To solve these problems, the author puts forward the basic principles of English language teaching in primary schools: interest guidance, hierarchical training, language and skills, training, and overall understanding, supplemented by the understanding of language, language sense training,grammar understanding as a supplement, thinking training,knowledge and skills, appropriate choice, flexible use. In the end, the author puts forward the concrete tactics of improving the teaching mode of English language teaching in primary schools from three aspects: teaching objectives,teaching contents and teaching methods.
