Chinese bamboo flute (Zhu Di), one of the oldest blowpipe musical instruments in China with nine thousand years of history, is a treasure of Chinese civilization.Chinese bamboo flutes have been played for a long time in various performing styles. The constitution of a bamboo flute is comparatively simple, but it sounds beautiful. That is why people use a metaphor of "sounding like nightingales singing" to describe its tones. People’s love for it has made it a popular musical instrument. Today, as a key member of the Chinese musical instruments, Chinese bamboo flutes play an important role in higher education teaching, and popular among students when choosing to learn an instrument.Music education, also known as musicology (of teacher education), is an indispensable major in the department of music in regular institutions of higher learning. It bears the responsibility to cultivate and train qualified and necessary music teachers which satisfy the needs of music teaching for primary schools and middle schools national wide.Different from the independent professional music institute and the Academy of Arts, what this paper studies are secondary department of music in general comprehensive or normal universities and colleges. The author works in a comprehensive university and is pursuing a master degree in a normal university, which provides favorable environment and objects for research.This paper develops from the analysis in bamboo flute teaching of professional music education in general universities, the reflection on the problems in teaching process, research on teaching methods and suggestions for future teaching.The first part is an introduction, which discusses the background, purpose and significance of this study. Based on his own teaching experience in his university the author understands that there is much more to study and explore in the field of bamboo flute teaching in regular institutions of higher learning.The second part analyses the current situation of teaching of bamboo flute in music education in regular institutions of higher learning. This paper studies research objects, explains the difference in teaching between general universities and professional institutes, and introduces common knowledge of bamboo flutes by using research methods such as contrasting and taking examples. It also analyzes the basic situation of teachers and students, and proposes ideas on what should be the key components in textbooks, as well as on how to rationalize the curriculum.The third part is the reflection on bamboo flute teaching. It mainly exams the major problems of bamboo flute teaching existing in professional music education, the reasons behind, and the countermeasures from a macro perspective.The fourth part is the research on teaching methods. The author firstly explores different organization forms of teaching so as to make classroom teaching reasonable and effective. Then he puts forward his point of view to emphasize that effort not only should be made into how to teach in the process of teaching, but also into teaching students how to learn. Only in this way can students can grasp the self-taught ability. And they can be a better teacher and student in actual teaching. Finally, according to his experience, the author analyzes and solves specific problems in the teaching process, and calls for the cultivation of students’ interest in learning.The fifth part is the prospect of future bamboo flute teaching. This chapter elaborates on the matching in future teaching and primary schools and middle schools teaching, and the application of stave, and instrumental ensemble, as well as the development of flute clubs. The use of staff and cooperation between bamboo flute and other instruments, in particular, is the priority in future’s teaching, which enables people to have a better understanding of bamboo flute and promotes bamboo flute embracing the future and the world.This thesis concludes with the author’s concepts and opinions:as an important part of Chinese instruments, Chinese bamboo flute is also essential to musical instrument teaching in regular institutions of higher learning; studies show that researches on bamboo flute teaching in music education are scarce, but has great potential in the improvement of teaching materials; and equal attention should be paid to "teaching" and "learning" in the teaching process of teaching. Stressed as bamboo flute of ethnic Musical Instruments, should work to strengthen coordination and cooperation with other instruments, the bamboo flute normalized in conjunction with other instruments.
