The improvement of critical thinking can be achieved through problem solving that can train students’ability of building knowledge framework, making reflection, and questioning. Problem-based learning is contacted by the tasks of problem solving. The whole process of learning is also the process of solving the problem. Problem-based learning is essentially the problem as the core development of learners’critica. Its purpose is to improve students’ability of criticism and questioning. The main parts of this paper as follows:The first chapter is mainly analysis of literature, describing the trends of the development of critical thinking and present situation home and abroad. This paper puts forward the research objectives:how problem-based learning promotes the development of critical thinking skills, and whether it works. Then the paper framework can be developed by its objectives.The second chapter is research foundation. This part mainly introduces the definition on teaching model and critical thinking,and the evaluation methods. According to the features of the critical thinking and the process of problem-based learning, this paper puts forward the general steps to promote students’critical thinking:including these activities, students ask some questions, group cooperative inquiry learning and analyze the problem, collect data, make discussions with classmates and do reflections of this research.The third chapter, based on the research of problem-based learning and critical thinking, it puts forward that problem-based teaching model has effect on critical thinking and illustrates the relationship between the problem-based learning and critical thinking. And further it thinks that problem-based learning is also a strategy to enhance the ability of critical thinking. Based on the problem teaching model and its effect on critical thinking, the way to illustrate is from these steps:asking questions, teacher’s guidance, and cooperative learning.The fourth chapter evaluates the effect of problem-based learning model on critical thinking. Combining the teaching content of high school information technology course, this paper carries out some teaching design activities by quasi-experimental design research methods. According to the pre-test and post-test data analysis, the research knows about the general level of critical thinking of high school students, and selects the experimental study. Finally, after a comprehensive analysis of the results of the questionnaire survey and an evaluation, the research tests the experimental hypothesis. The research draws a conclusion is that to some extent, based on the teaching model problem, it is contributed to the development of critical thinking skills.
