Illustration, referred to as the "second language" of textbook, is an important component of the textbooks.The text illustration with its intuitive, interesting features, plays an irreplaceable role in stimulating students’ interest in reading and helpping students’understanding of the meaning of the text. At the same time, The text illustration is also a kind of important curriculum resources, and needs further development and utilization.But in the actual teaching,the position of illustrations are often marginalized, making its function cannot get sufficient play.The author has carried out a classification and quantitative study on the illustrations in the text,and tried to summarizy its basic characteristics;Combined with the practice in the process of the interview and observation records, The author tried to reveal the problems of the text illustration in the Chinese subject teaching, and tries to give the explanation from teachers, students and text illustration itself three angles;Finally, some operable Suggestions were provided to help teachers’ useing of illustrations for a effective teaching.These Suggestions covers several main aspects in Chinese teaching: literacy and writing teaching, reading teaching and writing teaching and the project.The author hopes this research can arouse the attention of the teachers for the text illustration, to encourage their enthusiasm to discover curriculum resources, expand the use of the language teaching material space.
