With the "secondary school teachers professional standards (for Trial Implementation)" and the continuous promotion of the new college entrance examination reform program, the high school geography classroom for geography teachers’ professional ability to put forward higher requirements. Geography teachers’ professional core competence is the geography teachers in the teaching competition in the professional ability of the dominant position, in the geography teachers’ professional ability system is the core part, is the practice of geography curriculum standards of teacher’s ability. In this paper, through the construction of geography teachers’ professional core competence system, from classroom observation perspective of high school geography teacher in Hubei Province professional core competence analysis and diagnosis revealed Hubei Province high school geography teachers in the core status of professional abilities and to offer advice and suggestions to improve the professional competence of the core of the geography teachers in middle school. This paper is divided into six parts.The first part is the introduction, which mainly discusses the research background, significance, research status at home and abroad, research ideas and methods to provide a practical basis for the study of this paper.The second part is mainly defined geography teachers’ professional core competence concept of geography teachers’ professional core competence on the basis of the theory, this article mainly from the foundation of geographical science, learning theory, theory of geography teaching three aspects discusses the geography teacher’s core ability to diagnose theoretical basis.The third part, mainly through the literature search and expert consultation to construct the geography teachers’ professional core ability structure system, and on this basis, making the high school geography teachers’ professional core ability classroom observation diagnosis scale.The fourth part analyzes the core competence of geography teachers in Hubei Province, finds out the problems existing in the core competence of the geography teachers, and analyzes the reasons of the problems.The fifth part, aiming at the problems of the fourth part proposed enhanced scientific training policy, strengthening the role of the geography teacher expert pilotage, its development four aspects and proposes the development strategies of optimization of teaching management system and geography teachers.The sixth part introduces the basic conclusions, shortcomings and prospects of the paper.
