A Study On American Community College’s Pathway For Participating The Development Of Green Economy

With the increasingly serious ecological problems, ecological civilization construction has been received more and more attention. Transforming the economic growth, developing green economy is an inevitable choice and an important measure to promote the construction of ecological civilization. For developing the green economy, it not only needs the corporations’restructuring and upgrading, but also needs the construction of a green economy mechanism including various subjects. The higher education institution is one of the important subjects, and higher vocational college is an important part in Chinese higher education system, so we should give full play to its special role in providing intellectual support and related services for the development of the green economy. Nowadays how to effectively participate in the development of green economy becomes an important issue for higher vocational schools. The nature of the American community college is similar with Chinese higher vocational school, and in order to get some beneficial advice and inspiration from outside, it tries to make clear that how does American community college participate the development of the green economy.This thesis consists of six parts.The exordium elaborates the study background, purposes, contents, methods, significances and the literature review of relevant research at home and abroad.The first part depicts the general background, including the current situation on American green economy, the reason why American community college participate the development of green economy, and its power for participating in the green economy.In part 2, it explores the mechanism on the administration of community college participates the development of the green economy.The part 3 to 5 analyses the three pathways for American community colleges to participate in the green economy from developing green campus, cultivating green talents as well as community service.In part 3, from the perspective of green campus construction, it explores that how does American community college participate the development of green economy? It conducts a comprehensive practice in education, college associations, and greening college campus.In part 4, from the perspective of green talents cultivation, it explores that how does American community college participate the development of green economy? It explores the related fields for cultivating these talents, the programs and courses, and the education methods. Besides, it analyses the difficulties and solutions on cultivating green talents.In part 5, from the perspective of green community service, it explores that how does the American community college promote the development of green economy from two main aspects-publicity and practice. It tries to make clear that how does American community college serve for greening community.In the last part, through summarizing of the whole study, part 6 aims to come up with several rewarding advices. It finds out that in participating in the development of the green economy, American community college has already formed a relatively sound mechanism. On management, it has the clear green development concept, the scientific and effective management method and the combining of top-down management and bottom-up incentive mechanism; On Practice, American community colleges participate the development of green economy through campus construction, talents cultivation and community service, and these three pathways promote and influence each other; What’s more, American community college has formed a cooperation and interaction mechanism with the external bodies:Promoting community college to implement the green development strategy, providing action standards and financial support, helping the community college in the supervision of its work, also on talents cultivation.
