Education is the foundation of national development in the long run, and teacher should be regarded as the foundation of education. The cultivation of high-quality talents can not do without high-quality teachers. As the leading subject of science in the 21st century, bioscience education will undertake the new mission of the times, which longs for high-quality teachers to cultivate inter-disciplinary talents. Therefore, the study of biology teacher’s professional development is particularly urgent.This thesis first studies domestic and oversea theories about profession, teacher’s professional development, etc. On this basis, using the measure of questionnaire investigate and case study, and also combining the feature of bioscience, the thesis conducts the study of high school biology teacher’s professional development from the whole to the point. The study proceed from the actual situation of teacher. Besides, the thesis pointedly proposed some strategies to promote teacher’s professional development.The main body of the thesis consists of two parts:The first part is the status survey of high school biology teachers in DaTong city. The study uses a questionnaire to investigate teachers’status, including basic background situation, expertise, professional competence and the affection of professional development. The result shows:firstly, respondents have rich professional knowledge, they are overall capable and also satisfied with their occupation,-secondly, the problem is that their scientific consciousness and capacity need to be improved, many teachers lack career planning; thirdly, the best way to promote biology teacher’s professional development is teaching reflection and exchange between colleagues, then professional training and reading.The second part is the case study of high school biology teacher’s professional development. The study selected three typical biology teachers at different ages as a study, using the case study of the way through in-depth interviews, classroom observations and physical analysis, to analyze the characteristic of outstanding biology teacher’s professional development.The conclusions of this thesis is the key factors in teacher’s professional development:devotion into the career, knowledge accomplishment, practice and reflection, key events. Finally, the thesis puts forward some countermeasures for high school biology teacher’s professional development:from the teacher level, awakening consciousness of self-development, forming reading habits, insisting on teaching reflection and research; from the social level, raising the pay of teachers, appropriately reduce the burden on teachers, improving educational training content.
