As one of the essential fundamental courses of advanced professional musical education, piano course is irreplaceable among all the other fundamental courses. It combines skills, art, knowledge, and practice, playing a crucial role in improving students’ musical skills and overall performance.The transmission of musical culture of piano in China can never be separated from piano courses, which undertake the naturally-born responsibility of music culture selection, inheritance and innovation. Implementation of piano courses is the fundamental method to secure the steady development of piano education. Through research on piano course implementation, it is possible to figure out the authentic factors which influence the implementation of piano courses, to define possible situations of piano course plans under a variety of circumstances, to sort out the key factors which may restrict the implementation of piano courses and those which may not, as well as those which may have negative impact on it, and to clarify that to what extent and which direction these factors may influence the course implementation. It is also possible to correctly intervene and control irrelevant factors, in order to evaluate different situations of plans under a variety of circumstances.The author argues that piano course implementation is the process of applying designed piano course plans into practice through piano teaching activities. The focus is the extent of modifications and reforms in real practice, and the factors which affect the implementation of piano courses. It involves several aspects including forms of piano course, course content, course evaluation, and the teaching process, etc. Through discussion on the process of piano courses and the factors which affect the implementation of piano courses, it is helpful to analyze the reason of success or failure of the implementation of piano course plans, improving the efficiency of piano course implementation, teachers’ motivation to teach, and students’ interest to learn.This paper starts with the piano course implementation in independent colleges, and aims to promote the reform of these courses, with a combination of several research methods including literature review, survey, etc. Through survey and research on current situation of piano course implementation, this paper finds the following problems, including low motivation and limited learning ability of students; lack of piano teachers, considerable mobility of teachers, single form of both the course and its evaluation, lack of education resources, etc. Regarding the problems listed above, the author proposes improvement strategies from five perspectives, which are: transforming the ideas of education, putting emphasis on the individual development of students, cultivating learning ability of them; increasing the training of teachers, introducing talents actively, maximizing the gender advantages of teachers; making good use of various forms to organize educational activities, improving the efficiency of course implementation; optimizing the evaluation mechanism of education, making overall evaluation of the course implementation; increasing the investment to improve the facilities. Through the research and enquiry of course implementation, it is hoped to improve the piano courses in independent colleges, to effectively improve the students’ overall application ability of piano, and to cultivate practical talents, improving the education quality of piano training in independent colleges from the basis and promoting the development of the whole industry of piano education.
