For English learners, vocabulary is the basis for developing English listening,speaking, reading, writing and other skills. It is impossible to learn English effectively without acquiring a certain amount of vocabulary. The government report published in the Eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China in 2012 puts the ecological civilization construction in a high position. Also the National English Curriculum(2013) promulgated by Ministry of Education and the Notice of College Entrance Examination(2015) all point out the importance of English vocabulary teaching in senior high school. However, a series of problems existing in the process of English vocabulary teaching and these problems affect the teaching efficiency in senior high school and restrict the improvement of students’ language proficiency.Relying on educational ecology and its 11 basic principles, eco-classroom studies the various phenomena in education based on the ideas of ecosystem,ecological balance and so on. Eco-classroom has the irreplaceable superiority. In this thesis, eco-classroom is combined with English vocabulary teaching to explore the practical application of eco-classroom English vocabulary teaching in senior high school and to find out the influences on students’ English vocabulary learning.Through the students’ and the teachers’ questionnaires, the pre-test and post-test,the contrast of data analysis, and the interviews, this thesis studies the current problems existing in English vocabulary teaching in senior high school. And it attempts to verify the effectiveness of carrying out English eco-classroom vocabulary teaching in senior high school. Taking the two parallel classes as experimental subjects, a total of 120 students selected from certain senior grade in Ganzhou, this thesis try to conduct the instructional experimental research. One class is seen as the experimental class and the other is the control class. In the experimental class, it adopts the eco-classroom vocabulary teaching method, the control class adopts the traditional vocabulary teaching method. After the 16 weeks of teaching practice, the author makes statistical analysis of the obtained data and carries out the interview survey. The findings of this thesis are as follows: There are some problems existing among students and teachers in senior high school English vocabulary teaching at present; Carrying out English eco-classroom vocabulary teaching in senior highschool is conducive to improving the efficiency of English vocabulary teaching, and having a positive effect on vocabulary teaching. Meanwhile, it can stimulate students’ interests on vocabulary learning. This thesis not only has the theoretical significance to form an ecological holistic view of English classroom, but also has the practical significance to promote English teaching development accord with era requirements and establish a harmonious relationship and realize lifelong education.
