Research On “Productive Aging” Of Aging Population From The Perspective Of Social Work

An aged tendency of population have a vital influence on political,economic,cultural and social development of the world,it is a hot research subject that thinking to cope with demographic change and adapt to the development of the human society.In 2002,the United Nations held the Second World Assembly on Aging, which raised“active aging”as a policy framework to response to population aging of 21 st century.Under guidance of the concept,we hold that the roles of elder should be changed in China,that is to say,elders not only recipients of social services,but valuable resource of society and creators of social value.We regarded L university community as an object in our research and studied“productive aging” about aging population.First of all,the concept include three aspects:in the sense of individual value of life,which contain pleasure and spiritual experiences;in the sense of family,which include helping adult child do housework and look after grandchildren;in the sense of society,which range from paid work to volunteer service.Secondly,we found that there are plenty of elder resources,obvious personal advantages and strong aspiration to participate in community,but public opinion,personal notion, channels of community participation and imperfect policies led to many difficulties in the process of “productive aging”and all above conclusions through analysis of basic characteristics and current situation about aging population in L community.Therefore,it is an increasing prominent issues that the strategies about combining characteristics of the old with “productive aging”,adapting to development of aging society,realizing “active aging”in community endowment, meeting the physical and mental needs of the elderly.On the basis of previous questions,we introduced perspectives and methods of social work and reviewed characteristics,possibilities of “productive aging” of aging population inL community.We come up with four strategies:social workers can help the old improve personal ideas, establish “mutual network” by using their own advantages,shape suitable communal roles and advocate thorough policies in regard to the elderly.All above based on paths of personal level,family level,community level and society level and in order to come true “active aging”.
