As a traditional art, blank art is spread as early as in ancient China.Theories such as Cai Yong’s “ Malapropism book ” on calligraphy, Ma Yuan and X ia Gui’s “corner” and “half” on painting, Sikong Tu’s “lasting appeal” on literary, and blank rests on music shows the quintessence of blank art entirely. As widely used in various fields, blank art has gradually become pursuit for group of scholars and formed the ideology of Chinese academics.In the west,blank theories for novel such as Hemingway’s “Iceberg Principle”, Roman Ingarden’s “Picture frame”, Wolfgang Iser’s “blank points and undecided points”, raises a new ideological trend of literature, which is increasingly attached by scholars. They believe that meaning of literary works thanks to the reader’s reading comprehension and creating participation. It is the blank art that brings rich connotation and immensity space, so readers get great aesthetic pleasure. And it has important implications for reacquainting novels, grasping the novel’s artistic features correctly, enriching and perfecting novel’s reading teaching system. Blank theory of Chinese and western all revealed the infinite artistic charm of blank art.In recent years, with the deepening understanding of education, quality education has been advocated. However, in the middle school, as novel’s reading teaching, teachers pay too much emphasis on “three essential factors” of the novel and ignore the blank structure, caused that readers can’t grasp the novel art features and understand it entirely. This theory provides a theoretical basis for teachers, which they can understand the novel comprehensively and grasp its artistic features completely. Blank art inspired students to participate in, give them endless emotion and aesthetic pleasure. It is helpful to enhance their Chinese literacy, bringing new vitality to the traditional classroom in teaching of reading novels.For that reason, this article aims to explore the blank art teaching on the basis of Chinese and Western blank theory. Firstly, blank theory has a profuse origin; this article traces the origin of blank theory and states it, define novel blank combined with blank theory. And on this basis, analyzed the reasons of the novel blank further, discussed from the following five aspects such as ambiguity of language itself, intentional pursuit of author, the only choice under political environment, reader’s active participation and author’s own confusion.Secondly, novel blank has profound aesthetic features, and glory hidden in words, readers’ imagined aesthetic space and readers’ self-construction magnetic field. It is potential, imaginative and constructive. Specific to the Chinese teaching in middle school, it mainly shows blank for language level, image level and implication level, including omission of language, plot structure, appearance, action, mental, psychology, theme and so on.Finally, I explore novel blank, set up situation opportunely and taste it repeatedly through observation of students’ learning, questionnaire survey and analysis, combined with hierarchical structure of novel blank in middle school Chinese teaching, which is under principles of context, text, knowing both the author and his time. And thus fill language, plot, and figure and theme glory in teaching. Discover methods and strategies of blank teaching, lead students to travel in vast space of art, and look for individual life meaning.
