The English Curriculum Standard of Compulsory Education points out that the overall goal of English course is composed of language skills, language knowledge, emotional attitude, learning strategies, cultural awareness and so on. Language knowledge includes pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, functions, topics and some other language forms. Compared with other language forms, grammar is often ignored by the English teachers of primary school. Nevertheless, to a large extent, the accuracy of using English grammar affected the students’ comprehensive language application ability. In recent years, the studies of primary school English grammar has received more and more attention, but the footholds of most of the researches are the grammar teaching method. And researches on elementary English grammar are really rare. In my opinion, “what” should be discussed firstly before we want to know“how”.In the first chapter, the questions of“what is the subject, why study and how to study?” are answered. In the second chapter, having a literature review on researches at home and abroad related to the study and ascertaining the theoretical basis--- Error Analysis Theory. At the same time, defining the core concepts of this research, such as primary English grammar mistakes. In the third chapter, counting the grammar mistakes by the method of literature. Randomly choosing 3 elementary schools in Urumqi, analyzing 324 integrated English papers by content analysis method in detail. Finding that more mistakes are made by students on verbs, nouns, pronouns. The respective proportions are 34.97%, 12.02% and 10.38%.In the fourth chapter, using the method of literature to find out the causes of grammar mistakes, namely, lack of the attention to grammar teaching in primary schools, negative influence of inter-lingual transfer, intra-lingual transfer, poor study habits, mental stress and etc.In the fifth chapter, putting forward that teachers should pay more attention to the accuracy of the language expression, weak grammar points( verbs, nouns, pronouns and tense, etc.) should be paid attention to compare the differences between English and Chinese, he applicable scope of the various grammatical rules should be clearly outlined to avoid negative influence of intra-lingual transfer.
