With the deepening of national reform of basic education, developing key competences of students has gradually become a common consensus. Geography as a part of the school curriculum is an important component, which is an important bridge for students to know the world and to connect with the world. How to improve the students’ geographic key competences is the confront problem, that is all educators need to work together.Geographic key competences is an important goal of middle school geography education, It is important for students’ lifelong development to train and improve the geographic key competences of students. But the impact of such factors as teaching philosophy, teaching methods, training geographic key competences is not ideal. American psychologist Howard Gardner’s theory of multiple intelligences believes that human has the multiple-intelligence, the difference of individual intelligence is one of the important factors that influence the students’ learning, classroom teaching should be based on the characteristics of the students’ intelligence, the unique perspective of the theory of multiple intelligences has changed people’s understanding of Education. Therefore, It is significant theoretically and practically to use the theory of multiple intelligences to guide the geography classroom teaching.Based on the existing research, this paper studies the development, concept, structure and relationship of the theory of multiple intelligences and geographic key competences. The paper surveys current training situation of the development of geographic key competences and intelligences in high school through tests, interviews and other methods by Excel. Finally, based on the theory of multiple intelligences proposed training strategy of geographic key competences, and design the corresponding teaching cases.
