The trade relationship between Vietnam and China has been established since theancient time. Commercial intercourses are extraordinary frequent, but impacted by variouskinds of factors, official trade develops slowly. After1991, the normalization of the twocountries’ relationship, the trade relationship between Vietnam and China started to take aturn for the better. Particularly, top leaders of the two countries subscribed “jointstatement” and after putting forward “long-term stability, facing future, good neighborlyand friendly relations, all-round cooperation” called16words policy, Vietnam and Chinastarted to develop rapidly and break through in the fields of politics, social culture,economy and etc. Thereinto, bilateral trade cooperation was the dominant direction topromote the relationship of two sides. Normal trade volume is basically on the straightfuluptrend. However, from an objective point of view, it does not reach the level which itshould have come up to and lags behind especially compared to the constantlystrengthening political relationship. How to change this situation is always a key issueplanned to be solved by the government of Vietnam and China. An issue which is to achievebetter development of bilateral trade by analyzing the influence of Vietnam China importand export trade on Vietnam economy, solving passive trade balance problem between thetwo countries, and playing the comparative advantages for better between the two countriesneed to be researched. Firstly, the paper comes up with some theories related to tradebetween Vietnam and China. In the next place, the thesis studies the status quo of bilateralexport and import, finds out the characteristics as well as existing problems of traderelationship, and probes into the influences of bilateral export and import trade on Vietnameconomy. Finally, countermeasures are proposed to motivate the export and import ofVietnam and China.
