In recent years, with the recovery of economy, many manufacturing companiesput more attention on reducing product cost, rationalizing and simplifying process,while they are expanding production and improving product quality. FreescaleSemiconductor limited company is leading in semiconductor industry and is one ofthe largest semiconductor companies, which puts more emphasis on this. Bothmanagement and employees are making effort on reducing product cost, improvingprofits and making company development sustainable. As one assistant of productiondepartments, the information technology department has the responsibility to helpreduce product cost, achieve lean production, and improve product quality and so on.The main purpose of the thesis is to reduce product cost and resource waste,thereby improving productivity and efficiency, and achieving paperless and automationthrough the reengineering of Freescale raw materials process by using BPR-BusinessProcess Reengineering theory and implementing the reengineered process by usinginformation systems. Firstly, it introduces business process reengineering theory andmethods, and explains the relationship between information technology and BPR.Secondly, it analyzes Freescale raw material current process to identify any existingproblems. Thirdly, it reengineers Freescale raw material current process using BPRtheory and methods, and implements the new process after reengineering usinginformation system.Fourthly, it evaluates the result of Freescale raw material processreengineering.Finally,the thesis provides the prospect to optimize Freescale rawmaterial process and make production actively adapt to the rapid changes in thesemiconductor manufacturing industry by using business process reengineering theory,and relying on information technology and systems.The thesis aims to reduce cost effectively, eliminate waste of resources, andimprove the efficiency and competitiveness of enterprises after the study on Freescaleraw material process reengineering.
