Scholars have demonstrated different conclusions about the effect of workstress to job performance. The conclusions are linear negative relationship, linearpositive relationship, a curve/u-shaped relationship, no relationship. And scholarshave researched on the relationship extensively between the work stress and jobperformance among different industry staff. Courier is one of the important industryin our country’s logistics industry, but the research about influence and influencemechanism between work stress to job performance of courier is almost blank.Therefore, we try to explore work stress’s influence of courier to their workperformance based on resources conservation theory and organizational supporttheory, at the same time test moderate mechanism of emotional support andinstrumental support in stress’s influnce to performance.Structured questionnaires were designed as the research instrument for thisstudy. All multi-item scales were translated from English through a scientificprocedures and measured on a Likert scale. The valid sample consisted of5supervisors and120couriers from5courier companies in Shenzhen. We usedSPSS17.0and AMOS5.0to test convergent validity&discrimination validity of thedata, and hierarchical regression to test the six theoretical hypotheses in our study.Research results showed as following: task stress and customer-related socialstressors had negative influnce to job performance. Instrumental support moderatedthe effect of task stress and customer-related social stressors to job performance;emotional support did’t moderate the influnce between task stress andcustomer-related stressors to job performance.Research enriched the results about job stress in different sectors and examinedthe adjustment mechanism of two-dimensional structure of organization support,which can provide a reference for the courier companies fiting instrumentalsupport and training support to the corrier in servicing customer.
