After the industrial revolution, human economy has been a qualitative leap, the environment has been deteriorating, CO2emissions gradually put on the agenda, at the Copenhagen meeting, agreement, to reduce carbon emissions, which Stockholm promised to remove all fossil fuel supply in2025, become zero carbon city. Therefore, the greenhouse effect caused by greenhouse gases, has become one of hot issues of the current states and the concern of the whole society.On the basis of the data on land use and energy consumption in Chongqing during the course of15years from1998to2012,this paper carries out an empirical research into the relationship between construction land expansion and carbon emission effect in Chongqing by means of not only pointing up the characteristics of construction land expansion and carbon emission but also setting up Kuznets curve model of construction land rate as well as carbon emission intensity to try to verify the beingness of Kuznets curve between construction land expansion and carbon emission intensity. As shown in the result:1.In the secondary land classification,urban land area and designate town land area continue to rise gradually,the maximum range of the two was in2009,and both of the change of speed and range in urban land area were great; The area of rural residential land came down every year,its change of speed and range were under zero,but the change is little.Compared to the other land classification,the change’s speed and range of other construction land were small.2.The gross area of construction landincreased rapidly between1998and2012,absolute increment was about140998.65hm2,the average annual growth was about9399.91hm2,in this period, the amount and intensity of carbon emission showed a trend of increasing,the absolute increment of carbon emission was about3707.05hm2and the average annual growth was about247.14hm2.3.Between the gross area of construction land and intensity of carbon emission,there was a Kuznets curve model of their relationship which was like a positive ’U’,and it standed in the right of the ’U’,that was said with the expansion of Chongqing’s construction land,the intensity of carbon emission was also gotten enhanced,and the inflexion point had not yet come.4.There was a curvilinear relationship which was like a inverted ’U’ between the intensity of carbon emission,construction land and designate town land.Rural residential land and the intensity of carbon emission showed a negative linear relationship,but other construction land had a unconspicuouscurvilinear relationship with the intensity of carbon emission.5.Some districts like the urban function core area, urban function development area, City Development Zone, Southeast Chongqing ecological protection zone, northeast of Chongqing ecological conservation area.The gross and intensity of carbon emission of those districts had different increasing degree.But the increasing of the gross and intensity of carbon emissioninCityDevelopment Zone was at most.,the gross of carbon emission in2012was32150800tC/t,and the gross of inceasing was more than4times,the proportion of inceasing was about12.42%,as a result,CityDevelopment Zone became the dominatingassistor of carbon emission in Chongqing.6.There was also a Kuznets inverted U-curve between urban function core area, urban function development area and the intensity of carbon emission,and the inflexion point had already come.There was no Kuznets inverted U-curve between other zones.7.The reasons could account for why the relationship between the gross of construction land and the intensity of carbon emission wasn’t an Inverse U Curve as expected.First, rural settlements are special land classification,exteriorland classificationtransformation and internal beard population have a effect on thecarbon emission;Secondly,there was no obviouscurvilinear relationship between other zones and the density of carbon emission;Thirdly,the expansion of construction land in City Development Zone, ecological protection zone in Southeastand northeast of Chongqing was unordered,which leaded those districts had no obvious Kuznets curve relationship with the intensity of carbon emission.In a word,the uncertainty of those three reasons had a great influence on the the curvilinear relationshipbetween the gross of construction land and the intensity of carbon emission.
